There are air condition units and fans for use during the hotter months and during the winter there are wood fires in the lounge and main bedroom 1 with gas/electric heaters elsewhere

Aziza and Mbarak are full time staff. Both have worked at the house since it was completed in 2006. Aziza looks after the house and is also a very good cook. Mbarak helps her and both are always on call. Both are trustworthy and have responsibility for the house. Both or either will be happy to walk with you to take you on a tour to the souks or the Place ( the main Square ) for those of you who visit Marrakech for the first time.
Unlike most other riads the staff are declared with the Authorities and have their NI and SS benefits fully paid. We are VAT/TVA registered and this is included in the rental you pay.
Aziza comes in daily 8 am to cook breakfast and clean the house. Sheets are changed every 4/5 days. She speaks very good French and a little English although happy to learn more. You should have no difficulty with communication!
She will provide breakfast at a time to suit and this is included in the rent.
Mbarek is the houseman who helps Aziza and has responsibility for maintaining the courtyard and terrace roof garden and pool. He stays on to make sure the house is locked up at night and either Aziza or Mbarek may sleep over if you wish to ensure all is well.
The house has a mobylette and Mbarek is able to go easily to collect some supplies/alcohol from the nearest supermarket. Go on the back of the scooter with him – great fun but not for the faint hearted and is at your own risk!
If you are 4+ visiting we have another maid to help look after you
Gratuity It is always discretionary but customary as I am sure you will have been well looked after . Suggest 300-350 dh each for Aziza & Mbarak
Why eat out all the time ?
Marrakech has restaurants in abundance although most are of a average standard and the better ones are £25 + per head. Some more intersting ones are listed below. If you wish to eat in the riad for lunch or dinner, Aziza is a great cook and this is a good alternative. Typically on the first night guests like to eat in and this can be arranged before you leave – just let us know. Aziza spent time working as a cook for a French lady and as a result will prepare delicious meals both with a French or local flavour with a twist . Lunch or dinner are served by the staff in dining room or on the terrace in the summer.
The lunch and dinner catering arrangements are run by the staff as their own venture.
From January 2018 – per head for adults and grown children (over 12) – ingredients included:
Lunch: 120 dh
Dinner: 170 dh
Give her a few hours notice and you pay Aziza direct at the time. She then goes to buy the shopping, cooks and serves at table for you. Go food shopping with her to a local market for an experience and to choose your dinner !
